Correction on the Newsletter…

If you happen to have read the newsletter, you will notice dates and times for two events related to the Data Visualization and Reporting Topical Interest Group (DVR TIG).  Although the locations in the newsletter are correct, the dates are wrong.  The CORRECT DATES are:

Thursday, November 3 – Ignite the Night

The Rules

Ignite  (http://igniteshow.com)  is governed by a set of rules for which each presentation abides by.  These rules include:

1) Each presentation will get 5 minutes, with 20 slides rotating automatically every 15 seconds.

2) Ignite is not a for-profit event

3) Presentations must follow the powerpoint format provided by Ignite

4) All presentations will be videotaped and posted on http://igniteshow.com

It’s as easy as that!  More information is soon to come for those interested in presenting or participating in any way!

Ignite the Night at AEA

Welcome to the “Ignite the Night” website!  Ignite the Night will take place during the AEA Conference in Anaheim, CA on November 3, 2011.  The time has been set for 7:15 and the venue is the Avalon A.

So what is Ignite?  According to ignite.oreilly.com, Ingite is:

“Fast-paced, fun, thought-provoking, social, local, global—Ignite is all of these and more. It’s a high-energy evening of 5-minute talks by people who have an idea—and the guts to get onstage and share it with their hometown crowd. Run by local volunteers who are connected through the global Ignite network, Ignite is a force for raising the collective IQ and building connections in each city.  And, via streaming and archived videos of local talks, local Ignites share all that knowledge and passion with the world.”

Each 5-minute talk consists of 20 slides which switch every 15 seconds.  Presentations are clearly planned out and fun to listen to.
